Welcome
Quote from Frater101 on September 25, 2020, 2:30 pmIn the early 1980’s the BOTA temple was planning a picnic. They asked members to submit an idea for the invitation. Frater Craig submitted a picture of The Empress seated at a picnic table laden with food. This was met with howls of protest from the organisers, deriding the blasphemy.
Years later Frater Craig made a clock to hang on his living room wall. A picture of that clock is the symbol used for this forum, as a tribute to Frater Craig and his most irreverent sense of humour. He and The Devil were great friends.
A couple of weeks ago we were talking on Skype about the 3D Tree, and how things we’ve looked at for years can suddenly take on a new meaning. When I was first introduced to BOTA by Robi Crozier of Laguna Beach in the early 1970’s I remarked to her that there was something about The Magician that intrigued me: at first glance he seemed to be pointing at the table, but on closer inspection I could see that his finger was actually pointing at a junction of the wand, the lily, and a curve on the column of the table. When I asked her about it, Robi said she was unaware of any particular meaning, but that it could be used as a point upon which to meditate.
I told Frater Craig that I’d been looking at that card for decades, and had only now seen what I think JBP had cleverly included: an indication that air(man’s finger)-earth(table)-fire(wand)-water(lily’s petal cup) is a construct not limited only to this dimension. The edge of the table forms a 90-degree angle with the top, the same angle feature in Key 20. The shadowed edge of table top and leg are shaded, thus making a “T” as in Tav.
He said he hadn’t noticed that either. Then he said “I’ve got to go now”.
And so he did. And I now miss his wit and verbosity, and am thankful to him and Soror Troya for founding and helping to maintain communications for us via the list. My hope is that we can continue to interact freely, and so I’ve provided this Forum for us to use . . . if y’all so desire.

Quote from gregdous on September 29, 2020, 9:45 pmFinger point. We know that Key 1 is the Transparent Int. The upraised wand can be the receiver and the downward hand the transmitter. The finger does point as you have written. It is also mostly in direct line to the crystal on the staff on the table. The only Lily with the bloom erect is, in turn, pointing tothe crystal. The others all point down and away.We know that most plants are heliotropic and that We are also.Frater Craig does indeed have a sense of humor. It did serve him well. I hope he can still use it now.I do enjoy the stories of and about our Fraters and Sorors.Greg

appear to be closer to the viewer,BUT the closer arm appears smaller and shorter and the left or arm farther away appears larger and longer.
Defying the rules of Perspective seemingly done with a specific purpose.
